On July 26, 2019 Millbrook Playhouse invites you to relive the rock 'n' roll era with the smash-hit sensation Million Dollar Quartet, featuring an incredible score of rock, gospel, R&B, and country hits. Million Dollar Quartet is performed live on-stage by a team of actors who play their own instruments, as well as sing and perform.
It's the greatest jam session in rock 'n' roll history! On December 4, 1956, an extraordinary twist of fate brought four legends together - Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash, Carl Perkins, and Jerry Lee Lewis. That remarkable December night at Sun Records in Memphis, Tennessee is brought to life with an irresistible tale of broken promises, secrets, betrayal, and celebrations that are both poignant and funny. Aside from an extraordinary collection of breakthrough rock 'n' roll classics, the story reveals how Sun Records owner and producer Sam Phillips helped these young musicians find their true potential. Phillips pushed them to find the unique voices that would transform them into the legends they became. Million Dollar Quartet includes such hit songs as: "Blue Suede Shoes," "Fever," "Great Balls of Fire," "Folsom Prison Blues," "Whole Lotta Shakin' Goin' On," and "Hound Dog."
Millbrook newcomer, Jason Cohen will lead the production, serving as both Director and Musical Director. However, Mr. Cohen is no newcomer to the "Quartet." He performed Jerry Lee Lewis in productions all around North America in over 75 cities and nearly 300 performances.
"I've seen the power of music in uniting audience members from coast to coast, from age 8 to 80. Hundreds of thousands of people have enjoyed this amazing piece of theatre. This is not one to miss." says Mr. Cohen.
The talented group of actor musicians include Steven Makropoulos as Elvis Presley (Millbrook's Fun Home, Ring of Fire), Sean Flanagan as Johnny Cash, Alex Hamel as Carl Perkins, Brandon Fillette as Jerry Lee Lewis, Michael Santora as Sam Phillips, Brandy Aguirre as Dyanne, Winston Presley as Jay Perkins, and Jon Rossi as W.S. "Fluke" Holland.
Millbrooks magnificent design team includes; Set Design by Cade M. Sikora, Costume Design by Michelle Stovall, Lighting Design by Caleb Stroman, Sound Design by Chase Hendrickson, and Props Design by David Singleton. The Production Stage Manager is Ericka Conklin, with Assistant Stage Manager Jacqueline Adams, and Musical Directing Intern Lydia Haasl.
