Peter and the Wolf at The Cherry Arts

The Cherry Arts is thrilled to present an innovative new circus-based devising of the musical classic Peter and the Wolf.

Peter and the Wolf marks the Ithaca debut of internationally celebrated puppeteer and motion-capture performer Robin Guiver, who recently relocated to Ithaca. Guiver’s stage puppetry credits include War Horse on the West End in London, and his film motion-capture performance credits include the final three Star Wars films, and the role of Flounder in Disney’s 2023 Little Mermaid. The Cherry is honored to welcome Robin to Central New York, featuring his amazing movement and tumbling skills in the role of the Wolf.

Peter and the Wolf has long been a family-favorite introduction to orchestral music for young people, and the Cherry Arts’ production collaborates with Circus Culture to stage the show using the language of circus and physical theater to create a captivating new production for audiences of all ages.

The Cherry is thrilled that this production marks our first full collaboration with our longtime friends Circus Culture and Lilypad Puppet Theatre. Lilypad Puppet Theatre will perform a comic act at the beginning of each performance, and Circus Culture will consult throughout the creative staging process.

The piece is directed by Jen Pearcy-Edwards, who brings her expertise in devising and physical theater to the Cherry this year from London. Pearcy-Edwards also serves as the General Manager of the Cherry Arts. In addition to Guiver, the cast includes Cherry Collective member Sylvie Yntema, and Ithaca circus artists Cora Williams and Nuala Hill. Costume design by Ithaca College student Andrea Mejuto.
