MAMAWA Productions presents Matthew Martin Ward: What I Love. From playing the piano since he was 2½ years old, to local TV appearances in Milwaukee at 11, to appearing with the Milwaukee Symphony at 13, then gigging non-stop since college… After 50 years in the business, beloved singer, songwriter and musical director Matthew Martin Ward performs his debut solo cabaret show at Don’t Tell Mama!
Doing a few of his original tunes, some covers, American Songbook, special arrangements and, of course, a few of Matthew’s own eclectic choices, this promises to be a special evening celebrating a man and his music! Directed by Geoffrey Stoner.
Some reviews of Matthew as a Musical Director and Singer:
“Among the many other highlights was Matthew Martin Ward singing ‘September Song’. The music, the lyrics, Matthew Martin Ward and especially Sally Darling made this one performance not to be missed.” ~ Myra Chanin, Cabaret Review
“Ward proved to be an excellent collaborator throughout the show, singing along on several numbers.” ~ Mark Dundas Wood, Bistro Awards
“Ward added a great deal to the show. Beyond his smooth playing…he also provided some excellent vocals….He also soloed on a moving ‘September Song’. Like every moment of this terrific show, it shone with honesty and sincerity.” ~ Bart Greenberg, Cabaret Scenes
