Mitchell Walker and Ashley Kate Adams of aka Studio Productions present the album release concert for A Brass Act which will star Michelle Dowdy at The Metropolitan Room on March 3rd at 9:30pm.
Michelle Dowdy made her Broadway Debut in the Tony Award winning musical Hairspray as Tracy Turnblad after booking the show in high school in 2005. She has been a favorite in the nightlife community and a featured performer in Broadway Bares from 2006 to 2013. She will also be playing the role of Tracy in the upcoming Royal Caribbean Cruise production of Hairspray.
A Brass Act features songs from the American Songbook. With Dowdy's big, lush voice, the choice of music is eclectic; the theme is "Brass," is a statement of the emotional and demanding repertoire she selects. Dowdy is singing familiar pieces as a powerful response to life, not death or despair. This young woman is known to present genuinely a fresh perception of classic songs.
Mitchell Walker, who created and directed A Brass Act, will repeat his role again with Dylan Glatthorn as Musical Director. Glatthorn is an American composer and lyricist and the two-time recipient of the Alan Menken Award with his B.M. and Masters degrees from New York University. Walker is a graduate of the University of Cincinnati, CCM in Musical Theatre.
