"Be Good or Be Gone" is the rule for The Apollo Amateur Night. The weekly Wednesday night venue recently had their "Soul Night" and the audience was able to fully participate in the legendary talent show. With two performers being "booed" offstage by the audience, one foursome and three solo vocalists competed for the opportunity to move to the "Super Top Dog" competition to be held in November.

The "Soul Night" first place winner was Anthony Quarterman singing a heartfelt rendition of "Practice What Your Preach." The winners of the evenings youth competition, "Stars of Tomorrow" were the trio Mayn Event singing, "I Want You Back." The "Soul Night" audience was also treated to a performance by the famed R&B Singer, Tony Terry.

Produced by Marion J. Caffey, The Apollo Amateur Night is sponsored by Coca-Cola. As a weekly venue, the audience not only has the opportunity to judge the talent on stage but they also can enjoy the excellent cast that makes up every performance; DJ Jess, Joe Gray, Amateur Night Host, "The Gangster of Comedy" Capone, and "The Executioner," C.P. Lacey who escorts those contestants who are booed from the stage. The extraordinarily talented Amateur Night Band is directed by Onree Gill and they accompany the contestants.

Amateur Night has launched the careers of many famous performers and you can be in the audience to see be part of the legend. For more information, visit The Apollo website at www.apollotheater.org.
