Miss last week's episode of SLEEPY HOLLOW? Find that recap here! This week the BWW TV World recap of SLEEPY HOLLOW went live, and the final version is now presented below:

The episode opens tonight with Crane learning to drive. We learn that he's been practicing with Jenny - but in this scene Abbie is the instructor. In a very touching moment Crane tells Abbie the reason she is insisting he learn to drive is in the event something terrible should happen to her. Crane gets an amber alert on his cell phone that a child has gone missing. I have to say, I am very impressed with the way Crane's knowledge of modern devices is being portrayed. Slowly but surely, we see him adapt to new things.

In the next scene, we meet the family of the missing child. After an emotional homologue from the mother about losing her daughter, the mother claims her family is cursed. We learn that the missing daughter's (now named Sarah) mother was Abbie's caseworker when she became a ward of the state.

Abbie and Crane go searching for Sarah in the woods. They find a bloodly tree and a flute made of bone. Crane plays us a lovely melody on it that sends Abbie into a trance, and she begins to walk into the river. Crane stops playing for a moment and pulls Abbie back. Crane claims Sarah is not lost, but was called into the woods by a pied piper.

We pick up after the first commercial break where Crane is telling Abbie about a piper from the civil war who was able to kill entire armies by putting them into a trace with a flute. Abbie tells Crane she felt a pull to go somewhere when she was under the flute's spell. They decide to put Abbie back into a trance so she can lead Crane to the lair of the piper. To prevent anyone else from being affected, they record the flute onto Abbie's cell phone.

Believing they have found the piper's lair, they prepare to attack. Who they find instead is Nick from last episode's episode. He is bleeding and tells Abbie and Crane there is still time to save the girl. Nick tells Abbie and Crane he was out in the woods when he saw the piper and was attacked.. He knew the piper would be coming because it was Sarah's 10th birthday and there is a cure on her family (the Lancaster's) that predicts this to happen. Nick was hoping to acquire the flute due to it's value. Nick doesn't believe he was really attacked by the piper because he doesn't believe in curses and legends. Yet, he was still out looking for the flute.

We're taken to the psychiatric ward where former captain Irving is having a vision of the "end of days" when his bible catches on fire. After this brief cut-away, we resume the search for Sarah in the woods, with Nick now along for the journey. Abbie is back under the trance when they think they've found the piper's camp. After finding a tunnel entrance, they go inside to search.

Inside, it's clear they are being watched by a strange creature, but they don't know it. They find Sarah alive, but weak and asleep. She has been chained up. Crane soon realizes they are not alone and the piper is watching them. The piper being to attack, and just as it appears our hero's are going to lose the fight, Nick manages to explode the piper's lair using explosives. Worried they are being chased, they run away with Sarah.

Abbie and Crane plan to go back to destroy the piper, but Nick is not interested. He says he has fulfilled his obligation and wants to take the flute and be on his way. Abbie decides to snap the flute in half to destroy it's magic and give it to Nick. Abbie and Crane bring Sarah home, to the delight of her mother. This feel good moment brought tears to my eyes. The acting in this scene is really top notch.

However, the danger is far from over. The piper is still at large and must be stopped. Crane and Abbie have learned that in each generation, one Lancaster girl has gone missing on her 10th birthday. Only on once instance was the girl recovered, but then all the children died soon after. They believe Sarah's mom thinks she has to kill Sarah or her other two adopted children will also die (and that she had adopted children in order to break the curse, but then had Sarah.)

Crane and Abbie run to the house and find the boys have already fallen ill. Sarah and her mother have disappeared, and Abbie think she's gone to deliver Sarah to the piper. Sarah is scared and doesn't understand what's going on. They find Sarah and her mother walking towards the piper.

Sarah's mother fully intends to sacrifice Sarah. She insists he takes one child or the curse takes them all. Crane manages to talk her into trusting them and allowing himself and Abbie to help her. Just then the piper arrives, and in a dramatic fight, engages battle with Crane and Abbie and tries to take Sarah. Abbie and Crane manage to force him to retreat but the fight isn't over still.

Crane jumps into the piper's hideout and puts in noise cancelling ear plugs to prevent him from falling under his spell. He and the piper engage in another fight. Just as it appears Crane is done for, the scene cuts to a commercial. We pick up after the commercial with the battle in full force. Crane is putting up a good fight but is getting tired. Abbie comes in and stabs the piper, killing him instantly.

After the fight, the show cuts to captain Irving having an exchange with Henry Parrish - who is convincing him he is there to help and Abbie and Crane have only caused him harm. Upon reflecting he realizes he had signed away his soul to the horseman of death when he retained him as his lawyer.

Crane and Abbie, meanwhile, are enjoying a coffee at an Italian restaurant. Crane at first cannot believe one would pay so much money for a cup of milk with a drop of coffee, but upon tasting he exclaims he can see why people enjoy it.

We also see Nick selling away the flute to a buyer he is not aware of. We see this buyer receive the flute, and crush it up. It is revealed later through the use of clever camera angles the buyer is Henry Parrish. He takes a taste of the bone, and the episode concludes.

This week's SLEEPY HOLLOW is much more my cup of tea. After a weak episode last week, I'm thrilled to see that the engaging side plots are back and still contributing to the main story line. Crane's character is evolving brilliantly, and I'm really enjoying seeing him take on more responsibility - with Abbie not always calling all the shots. Meanwhile, Nicole Beharie as Abbie really shines in this episode. We see a new, much more vulnerable side of Abbie as her past is slowly explored when we meet the town's other residents.
