Here comes the bride, all dressed in white. Here come's the bride, getting stabbed by her twin brother before she can say 'I Do.' This season's penultimate episode THE VAMPIRE DIARIES brought not only a disaster of a wedding and the return of everyone's crazy hunk of a witch, but set up Nina Dobrev's sure to be bittersweet exit from the series.

Bonnie was snoozing in her ridiculously huge dorm room when she started dreaming of Lily and Kai killing her. Elena conveniently popped in to wake her up and drag her to help Jo get ready for the big day. Jo's wedding coordinator was under the weather with the flu and Caroline arrived, humanity switch fully on, to take over the planning.

Caroline apologized to Elena for the things she said while she was traipsing around with no humanity and Elena filled her in on Damon's plans to suck the cure out of her. Meanwhile, Stefan took Damon out to suburbia to convince him that human life kind of sucks.

Enzo stopped by the House of Hunks to deliver Lily an iPod with old music on it. Bonnie refused to let him enter and took the iPod to Lily, who was busy talking to herself and still stuck in her cell. Instead of accepting the music, Lily grabbed Bonnie by the neck, leaving scars on the young witch and freaking Bonnie out. Jo didn't seem to care too much about Lily's desiccation as long as it had nothing to do with the state of her wedding dress.

While Caroline and Tyler helped to set up, Liv arrived. But the feelings of seeing her ex were only rekindled to the last time they saw each other and their harsh breakup. Stefan wasn't having much luck on the convincing Damon to stay a vampire front and Elena was beginning to drink herself out of her worry when Jo suddenly collapsed. Thankfully the babies were safe, Jo's attack caused by stress and panic over the wedding.

Stefan tried to convince Damon that it was a very real possibility that him and Elena could break up, Damon refusing to face the idea. Stefan popped into Damon's head to show him what an unhappy life with Elena could look like. Stefan's dream mangling only enraged Damon and the two tussled, but Stefan didn't care, he needed his brother to see the worst of what life as a human could look like.

The guests started to arrive to Jo and Alaric's dream Pinterest wedding. And while Damon decided he needed some more time to reflect, Bonnie and Matt had made the decision to take care of Lily. They entered the basement, only to be inoculated by something in the air; Lily had escaped to the Grill to thank Enzo for bringing her some tunes and to get his help retrieving her friends from the prison world.

Jo and Alaric shared a sweet moment over the phone. He questioned why she would invite her father AKA her attempted murderer to the wedding and she replied that he gave really great gifts. It just so happened he was waiting in the wings to pop in, ready to hand over his gift and walk his daughter down the aisle.

Caroline finally came face-to-face with Stefan to confront their feelings on everything that had taken place. They both admitted to doing wrong and Stefan sweetly took Caroline's hand. Caroline couldn't handle no longer being in control of her actions and she walked away from Stefan.

Damon had finally made his decision while watching an elderly couple canoodle on their front lawn. He wanted to grow old with Elena and he was dead sure of his decision. He would rather chance a mortal life with her than an immortal life without her. The two embraced and made love in the barn, straw covered and all.

The wedding finally began and Jo looked beautiful as her dad escorted her down the aisle. Everything was going perfectly as they recited their own vows and exchanged rings. Suddenly, Jo began to bleed from her stomach, Kai revealing himself, clad in a tux, blade in hand and ready to take down the whole wedding. The glass windows exploded, knocking Elena out in the explosions wake.

Things we need to discuss:

- How did Kai get out of the 1903 prison world? And if he's out then that means all of Lily's witchpire friends have tagged along as well. Accordingly, what happened to his touch of humanity?

- Stefan's dream mangling has become way too relevant. If Nina's exit from the show ends with Elena in a coma having her dreams mangled into the "perfect" life with Damon then I'm not sure how I will feel. I would rather she found out about Jeremy's vampire hunting and skip town, but this is TVD and nothing is ever simple.

- Speaking of Jeremy, was he too busy "painting" to come to Alaric's wedding?

- I hope Jo is still alive. Her and Alaric's relationship has been one of the best aspects of this season.

How good did Kai look in a tux? How do you think Elena will ride off into the sunset? Would you rather be a vampire, a human, or a unicorn? Comment below or tweet me @enr702 or find me live-tweeting the episodes @erinrlivetweets.
