This week's 200th episode of SUPERNATURAL may go down in fandom history as one of the greatest episodes ever aired throughout its ten-season run. "Fan Fiction" sought to bring some of the shows greatest aspects to the forefront, falling in line with similar episodes like "Changing Channels" and "The French Mistake." These episodes showed us just how painfully aware of themselves the shows creators, writers, actors, etc. are and Tuesday's episode was no exception.

Dean was still supercharged with energy, dragging Sam along on yet another case. What the Winchester brothers found would surely change their lives. The local high school was putting on a production of SUPERNATURAL: The Musical and nothing was going to stand in their way, even Calliope, a goddess that feeds off creativity and consumes the writer after inspiration is finally realized, sent after the young superfan/creator of said musical.

The episode dealt with some of SUPERNATURAL'S most popular fan conversation, including the Winchesters too close for comfort brotherly love, Dean and Castiel's relationship laden in heavy subtext (and Sam and Dean's subsequent argument over which "ship" name works best), and the fact that no one seems to care about half-brother Adam anymore and the fact that he is still chilling in Hell with Lucifer.

Yes, this "transformative fiction" gave the brothers plenty of fodder throughout the hour to discuss and realize that the two work best together when out on the road hunting. During an emotional rendition of "Carry On Wayward Son," the brothers were able to open up and appreciate how far they've come. But the real prize of this monumental episode was the return of the Prophet and writer, Chuck Shurley.

Although episodes like "Fan Fiction" bulldoze the 4th wall into oblivion, SUPERNATURAL may be one of the only shows that can get away with such a feat. Tuesday's episode was a real treat for the fans and reminded us of why we love the show and have stuck around for so many episodes.

Some of tonight's best moments included:

- Every season's title card, including specialty episodes, flashing across the screen.

- "More of a Rufus/Bobby combo...maybe." In response to Dean and Sam outing themselves as the real Winchesters and being met with laughter.

- The reference to the one woman ORPHAN BLACK show we will unfortunately never see.

- Dean quoting RENT and stealing my Broadway soul at that very moment.

- Calliope uttering the words "I can't even." Neither can we.

- The pivotal song of the musical, "A Single Man Tear."

My own wayward relationship with SUPERNATURAL has been relatively short. Unfortunately, I can't claim to be a long-standing fan as I was only introduced into the world of the Winchesters a little over a year ago. I had constantly been told to watch, given my relationship with many other CW shows, but it was one fateful night of sheer boredom and a newly acquired Netflix account that piqued my interest. I can say, without embarrassment now, that I finished 177 episodes of SUPERNATURAL in four short weeks. Yes, you heard me. In one month I fell in love with Sam, Dean, and especially Castiel and their hunting shenanigans. Binge watching a show like SUPERNATURAL is one heck of a ride I will never regret.

Have you ever written SPN fan fiction? Are you also jumping for joy at Chuck's return? Is he God? Comment below or tweet me @enr702 or find me live-tweeting at @erinrlivetweets.
