FAITH EVANS - PAGE 2
BIO:
Multi-platinum Grammy Award winning recording artist. New York Times best-selling author. Wife. Mother. Entrepreneur. With so many hats to be worn, it is undeniable that Faith Renée Evans has a little something for everyone. What has been an equally rewarding and trying career, ask her how she’s come this far and she’ll simply reply, “FAITH.”
The title, “Something About Faith,” is uncannily fitting because the entire creation of this project has been anchored by that ‘something.’ Everyone involved had given their time and talent not on a monetary basis, but as an acknowledgement of that ‘somethin’ and their ‘faith’ in what I represent as an artist, says Evans
With a career spanning over a decade in the music industry, Faith Evans has released three Platinum-certified albums (Faith, Keep The Faith and Faithfully), the Gold-certified The First Lady, and the holiday staple, A Faithful Christmas. Evans is a five-time Grammy nominee and winner for “Best Rap Performance by a Duo or Group” in 1998 for “I’ll Be Missing You,” an homage to her late husband and hip-hop legend Notorious B.I.G. Faith adds, “2010 is shaping up to be an amazing year for me! It marks 15 years since the release of my first album, and my entrepreneurial debut as the face of Glass Hair, a high-end line of hair care products. Being centered in a place where I have grown from an entertainer to an entrepreneur is truly a blessing. I am excited to share this incredible experience with my fans and the world.”
The songstress is back with her long-waited sixth studio album, Something About Faith. Slated for an October 5th release on her imprint, Prolific Music Group with distribution through E1 Music, the album is sure to be another classic that will be well worth the five-year hiatus. “I have been quite busy in the last 5 years. In addition to welcoming a fourth addition to my brood, I wrote and published my memoir and developed a few television projects. I also transitioned from my last label home to acquiring my own imprint through E1 Music. Although I miss the creative process and reconnecting with my fans, at this stage in my life it's far more important for me to make wise decisions on things that best affect my children's future.”
Something About Faith delivers soaring soulful melodies and exceptional vocal arrangements only bested by her signature voice. Helmed by an eclectic group of notable producers that include the likes of Salaam Remi, Mike City, Malik Pendleton, Chucky Thompson, and Carvin & Ivan, the album is a mosaic masterpiece of different interpretations and soundscapes that comprise the quiet storm known as Faith. Serving as the perfect reintroduction to the First Lady, the official first single “Gone Already,” is an emotionally charged radio-friendly ballad, complimented by a definitive lyric that showcases the essence of Faith. It proves to be her declarative statement of a failed relationship, completed by an anthemic track with pop sensibilities. “Being in full creative control this time around really gave me the opportunity to rely on my relationships. I have a great deal of respect and admiration for all of the artists, writers, and producers who lent their support. Collectively, they helped manifest my vision to create [what I consider to be] one of my best bodies of work.”
Certainly her most feature-heavy project to date, Something About Faith emphasizes Faith Evans’ versatility as she indulges listeners from the sanctuary to the streets. She flows through genres with an elite lineup of female vocal powerhouses that include Kelly Price, Lil’ Mo, Keyshia Cole and Jessica Reedy (BET's Sunday Best), International superstar Estelle as well as Hip-Hop luminaries Raekwon and fellow Newark native, Redman. “I’ve sacrificed so much over the years, for the sake of artistry, but my diligence has earned me the gift of still being a relevant presence in our music culture, and the wisdom to become the CEO of my career, focusing on building my brand. I really appreciate my Faithful fans, for understanding the long absences between albums & knowing that quality withstands the test of time.” Once again, Faith Evans is set to take the music world by storm with another album that affirms there is truly Something About Faith.
