Grammy-nominated singer-songwriter Sara Bareilles stopped by this morning's TODAY to chat about her new album, "What's Inside: Songs from Waitress," out today. The songs on the album are from the upcoming Broadway show Waitress which she wrote the music and lyrics for. Bareilles talks about the process of composing the album and her return to her roots in musical theater. The new musical
Waitress opens on Sunday, April 24, 2016 at the
Brooks Atkinson Theatre with previews starting on Friday, March 25, 2016.
Waitress recently played a sold out limited engagement at the American Repertory Theater (A.R.T.) at Harvard University in Cambridge, MA.

Actress in a Musical for Beautiful: The
Carole KingMusical. Based on the 2007 motion picture written by
Adrienne Shelly, the new musical has a book by
Jessie Nelson, music and lyrics by five-time Grammy Award-nominated singer-songwriter
Sara Bareilles and direction by Tony Award-winner
Diane Paulus.
Waitress is the first Broadway musical in 25 years to feature book, score and direction by women.
Bareilles releases her new studio album, What's Inside: Songs from
Waitress, today Friday, November 6 on Epic Records.
