No stranger to the State Theatre, Witter played the venue in recent years in "The Piano Men", featuring the music of Elton John and Billy Joel. He returns to Easton with another nostalgia show, this time playing tribute to one of the most popular recording duos of the 60s - Simon & Garfunkel. Performing these types of shows since 2001, Jim remarks, "This is the music I really love. Stepping on stage every night and playing these songs is a great honor and privilege".
Paul Simon and Art Garfunkel formed the group "Tom and Jerry" in 1957, and had their first taste of success with the minor hit "Hey, Schoolgirl". As Simon and Garfunkel, the duo rose to fame in 1965, backed by the hit single "The Sound of Silence". Among their biggest hits were "I Am a Rock", "Homeward Bound", "A Hazy Shade of Winter", "Mrs. Robinson", "Bridge over Troubled Water", "The Boxer", "Cecilia", and "Scarborough Fair".
Whether it is his country music, the music of Billy Joel and Elton John, the Beatles, or Simon and Garfunkel's famous hits, Jim Witter's versatility as an artist has allowed him the opportunity to reach out and share his music and his infectious personality with audiences of all ages across Canada and the United States. His unique approach and comfortable rapport makes each member of his audience feel as though they are a part of a private concert in the comfort of their own living room. His golden tenor at the grand piano will easily transport you back to the '60s.
