In celebration of World AIDS Day, The NYC Department of Health is hosting The Red Ball at The OUT NYC Hotel located at 510 West 42nd Street, on Monday, December 1st from 6:00 pm to 11:00 pm. The Health Department, in conjunction with the New York City World AIDS Day Coalition, will unveil a new report that shows new HIV diagnoses are at an all-time low.
Dr. Demetre C. Daskalakis of the Bureau of HIV/AIDS Prevention and Control Assistant Commissioner, The New York City World AIDS Day Coalition, musical performer Ana Matronic, DJ Seth Ninja, DJ Sammy Jo, DJ Byrell and Symba will all be at the ball.
Inspired by New York City's House Ballroom culture, the Health Department and its community partners will host The Red Ball. Named RED for remembering/empowering/doing, this special event will also feature a World AIDS Day themed fashion show, free HIV testing, condoms and HIV prevention/treatment information.
World AIDS Day is dedicated to raising awareness of the AIDS Pandemic caused by the spread of HIV infection. Government and health officials, non-governmental organizations and individuals around the world observe the day, often with education on AIDS prevention and control.
