In honor of National Burger Month in May, Whataburger is celebrating the art of making a Whataburger with an adult coloring contest, where fans are encouraged to show off their creativity for the chance to win a $2,500 cash prize.

Tapping into the popularity of adult coloring books, Whataburger has collaborated with San Antonio-based Blue Star Coloring to create themed pages, which fans can download online to create their pieces of art and submit entries in the month-long contest. Themes include a Classic A-Frame drive-in scene, the Original Whataburger, and a rendition of Whataburger's flagship restaurant in Corpus Christi.

Weekly winners will receive Whataburger for a Year, and the grand prize for the best design overall is a cash prize of $2,500 awarded at the end of the month. An appointed Whataburger judging panel will choose the best entries throughout the month as well as the grand prize winner. Winning entries will be featured on Whataburger's social media channels.

Here's how the contest works:

  • Visit Whataburger.com or Whataburger's Facebook page to download and print the blank coloring pages
  • Show off your Whataburger spirit by creating your own art
  • Snap a picture of your completed page(s) and submit entries through Whataburger's Facebook, Twitter or Instagram channels using hashtag #TheArtOfBurgers

"National Burger Month is a great time to engage our fans in new, fun ways. We like to think there is an art to creating a Whataburger, and we've seen some amazing Whataburger-themed artwork over the years, so we're excited to see what our fans come up with this year. More than anything, we hope they enjoy the process," said Pam Cox, Vice President of Communications for Whataburger.

Adult coloring books have been shown to reduce stress and enhance relaxation. In fact, adult coloring books appear regularly on Amazon's list of best-selling books.

ABOUT WHATABURGER:
Whataburger has focused on its fresh, made-to-order burgers and friendly customer service since 1950 when Harmon Dobson opened the first Whataburger as a small roadside burger stand in Corpus Christi, Texas. Dobson gave his restaurant a name he hoped to hear customers say every time they took a bite of his made-to-order burgers: "What a burger!" Within the first week, people lined up around the block for his 25 cent, 100 percent beef burgers served on five-inch buns. Today, the company is headquartered in San Antonio, Texas, with more than 790 locations in 10 states with sales of more than $2 billion annually.
