Bellucci Premium makes a statement about the healthy components in olive oil following an article that shares how a combination of components found in olives and stem cells can help decrease the amount of time it takes a wound to heal.
According to The Olive Oil Times article published on November 6th titled "Olive Compounds Said to Enhance Healing Power of Human Stem Cells," the compounds hydroxytyrosol and oleuropein, found in olives, could potentially have positive healing effects on wounds.
The article details how adding these compounds to compositions that contain human umbilical cord stem cells can reduce the time it takes for a wound to close by 30 percent. This new application has been published by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office and records Darlene E. McCord as the inventor of the application.
McCord has created the tradename Olivamine for the product containing hydroxytyrosol and oleuropein, according to the article. McCord created the application to find a way to accelerate wound closure. The combination of "hydroxytyrosol and oleuropein may be used to reduce the concentration of free-radicals in the cells of skin tissue to improve cellular function," McCord says in the article. She also states that it may help "to induce cells into or maintain them in a reversible quiescent (dormant) state to provide them with time to heal and return to a more viable state with a reduced risk of necrosis."
"It will be interesting to see the outcome of this application, especially when more research is conducted on the other possible benefits," says Natalie Sexenian, marketing manager for Tuscan olive oil producer Bellucci Premium. "Since there are so many healthy compounds found in olives and olive oil, it is no surprise to hear another beneficial use for them."
Bellucci offers three different types of oil, including an organic option, with a mild peppery flavor and fruity undertones that will satisfy any palate.
