Bellucci Premium responds to an article that shares the lessons that can be learned from the Greeks in regards to a person's diet and lifestyle.

In the article published by MindBodyGreen on November 12th titled "5 Health Lessons We Can Learn From the Greeks," Maria Benardis discusses her book, "Cooking & Eating Wisdom for Better Health." In her book, she shares ways to empower people by using specific cooking techniques learned from the Greeks.

The article shares 5 things that we can learn from the Mediterranean philosophy about food and well-being.

  • Adopt a Mediterranean diet: Fruits and vegetables are the staple of the Mediterranean diet, along with nuts, beans, dairy, and olive oil. Fish and poultry are only occasionally eaten. But as always, have everything in moderation - both food and drink.
  • Cook with wholesome ingredients: Commit to using ingredients that weren't processed in any way. Natural ingredients, farm grown and unmodified, are the best way to go. Pesticides, processing chemicals, and GMO's are dietary ways to form a division between yourself and food. Eating unchanged food is the most natural way to energize and feed your body. Extra virgin olive oil is an excellent natural oil.
  • Adopt healthy and happy thoughts: Adopt positive outlooks and expectations about life. Actively committing your mind to the positive side of the spectrum allows you to more intimately connect with yourself and form a true inner balance. Embracing fear, anxiety, anger, and discontent will all too often have the opposite effect.
  • Moderate exercise: Engaging in at least a half hour of exercise each day helps release happy chemicals and reduces stress. Couple that with the obvious physical benefits and you have the recipe for a happy and healthy life.
  • Eat with peace and calm: Eating is not something that you should rush through on a fifteen minute lunch break. The Greeks generally go home to eat lunch with friends and family. This helps cement the idea of eating together as a proper celebration of food. It's something important to consider and take your time with. This causes a heightened awareness of the foods we eat and a higher consideration of what that food does for, or to, our bodies.

"When adapting to any type of diet, it is important to look into what other values and traditions go along with that diet," says Natalie Sexenian, marketing manager for Tuscan olive oil producer Bellucci Premium. "The Mediterranean diet is a great example of a healthy diet that also promotes a healthy and happy lifestyle."

Bellucci offers three different types of oil, including an organic option, with a mild peppery flavor and fruity undertones that will satisfy any palate. Bellucci Premium Toscano extra virgin olive oil uses olives that are grown on the beautiful landscapes of Tuscany, and maintained by 3rd and 4th generation farmers. The third type of oil Bellucci produces is the finest 100% Italian extra virgin olive oil, grown in many different regions of Italy.
