The Brunello di Montalcino Consortium, the association that promotes and safeguards the celebrated Tuscan wines, will host the annual Benvenuto Brunello event in the United States on Monday, January 29 at Gotham Hall in New York and on Wednesday, January 31 at The Drake Hotel in Chicago. Benvenuto Brunello is an exclusive wine tasting experience for wine trade and media during which the newest vintage release from 30 renowned Brunello producers is previewed.
Producers will showcase their 2013 Brunello di Montalcino and the 2012 Riserva, as well as the 2016 vintage of their Rosso di Montalcino, Sant'Antimo and Moscadello di Montalcino. This year, leading wineries including Altesino, Il Paradiso di Frassina, Castello Banfi, Il Palazzone, Loacker Corte Pavone and Villa Poggio Salvi will be present, among many others.
The events will feature a walk-around tasting, as well as seminars for select press and trade. The New York seminars will be led by Batali & Bastianich Hospitality Group's Beverage Operations Director Jeff Porter, while Fine Wine Specia list and Wine Educator Kristen Ellis will lead the seminar in Chicago.
"The Benvenuto Brunello events in the United States are very important occasions for us, as America is one of our largest markets," says Consortium President Patrizio Cencioni. "2013 was a cooler year in Montalcino that produced very elegant wines. We are excited to taste these wines along with the wine trade and media to see how the US market views this vintage."
