Santisi Imports was established in 2005. They import everything from small estate extra virgin olive oil to artisan pasta - directly from Italy. Phil Noto started the business by selling olive oil and oregano produced by his cousin in Sicily. What began as a hobby has transformed into a retail store, wholesale business and now an online store. Phil and the team visit Italy regularly to meet with their producers, all family-owned businesses, to personally select the products.
"Everything we sell we have seen made in Italy," says Phil. The Lehigh Valley locals regularly shop at Santisi Imports for specialty items. The new online store offers all of these specialty items, many of which are only available in America through Santisi Imports. The site's look reflects the beauty of Italy and Italian culture. Since the site is responsive, it makes for easy online shopping on any desktop computer, tablet or smart phone. Browse everything from Artisan Pasta to Extra Virgin Olive Oil to Tuna. They even carry gluten-free pasta. The selection is truly remarkable and goes far beyond what one might find at the grocery store. The site is easy to navigate and use. All major credit cards are accepted and checkout takes just a few minutes. The online store is ideal for people that do not live near a specialty Italian foods store.
Pasta is one of the main offerings. Vicidomini pasta is made with two ingredients: semolina and water. This is the oldest continuously running pasta factory in Italy, since 1812. It is family owned and the 6th generation currently works there. Mario Vicidomini, a co-owner, states, "My family has been producing pasta for 203 years. Our customers tell us they cannot eat another pasta after tasting ours!" There is something for everyone. Santisi imports more than 50 shapes of pasta. Another featured item is the pistachio cream from Bronte in Sicily, where the best pistachios in Italy are grown. This pistachio cream is certified DOP by the Italian government, meaning that the pistachios used to make this wonderful cream are grown in Bronte and are the highest quality. What is Italian food without tomatoes? Pomilia tomatoes are grown in the volcanic soil of Mt. Vesuvius. This rich, volcanic soil produces a tomato that has low acidity. No sodium is added to these tomatoes, preserving their sweet flavor. Both plum and cherry tomatoes are available. Orange Extra Virgin Olive Oil is just one of the many types of olive oil available. This olive oil comes from Alcamo, on the west coast of Sicily. The olives and the fruit are crushed together, instead of infusing the oil with fruit later in the process. Santisi also offers a wide range of Balsamic products. Balsamic condiments are not widely available in the United States. Both balsamic condiments and balsamic vinegars are produced using grape must, but balsamic vinegar also is blended with red wine vinegar, which increases acidity. Balsamic condiments get thicker and sweeter over time with more complex flavors as do the balsamic vinegars.
Sadly, many retailers have been selling Extra Virgin Olive Oil that is anything but. And it's impossible to tell when shopping. Rest assured, all of Santisi's Extra Virgin Olive Oil is the real deal. It is all imported directly from Italy and it is made using Italian olives. Everyone can shop on Santisi's web site knowing that they're purchasing authentic Extra Virgin Olive Oil. In addition, almost all of Santisi's offerings are available only through them. Or one can travel to Italy to purchase it, but who has time for that? For anyone that enjoys cooking Italian dishes, this website is for them. Getting quality and unique ingredients is an easy way to really take meals to the next level. Having access to authentic Italian ingredients, unavailable anywhere else, will give homemade dishes even more zest.
With the launch of their new online store, Santisi Imports offers the perfect blend of old world and high tech. Experience the flavors of Italy via this state of the art online shopping experience. "We give our customers the opportunity to eat like the Italians eat," says Vince Sciacsia, co-owner. They update the inventory several times a year, so there is always something new to discover.
