Jaquelin Elliott, a 25-year-old Florida woman equipped with coupons from restaurant birthday email clubs, was recently able to dine on free and discounted food for seven days. Over the course of her birthday week, Elliott and her mom enjoyed meals and snacks from more than a dozen locations, including Panera, IHOP, Sbarro, Starbucks, Dunkin' Donuts, and more, with Jaquelin's entrees often completely free of charge.

Jaquelin's starting points for seeking out the best restaurant deals and discounts were the e-club websites FavoriteCandle, Freebie Depot, and Hey It's Free. Each has online databases that allow users to search for birthday deals and other discounts in their area.

Her advice for other prudent diners celebrating a birthday? "Start registering for e-clubs well in advance of your birthday," says the young Floridian. "Sign up at least seven days before your birthday and during the calendar month before it occurs. Set up a separate e-mail account just for coupons since the e-clubs will be sending you great stuff all year."

The total amount of free food that Jaquelin received was an impressive $101.93, including a free venti Mocha Frappuccino from Starbucks, free breakfasts at IHOP and Perkins, a free large pizza from Grimaldi's Pizzeria, and a dozen more freebies. The crowning deal of the week however was a birthday dinner at Blue Pointe Oyster Bar and Seafood Grill, where both Jaquelin's filet mignon and dessert were on the house.

"Neither Mom or I get to eat out at restaurants often because of the cost," says Jaquelin. "It was wonderful to get to do something really special for my 25 th birthday. I'd heard about birthday deals here and there, but I had no idea just how many restaurants offer discounts and free menu items. Not just desserts or appetizers, either, but whole entrees. It's mind-boggling. Almost all birthday e-coupons I received were valid for seven to 30 days - meaning you can get free meals and snacks the entire month of your birthday!"

The e-club options can be overwhelming. Most of the major chains like Chili's, Applebee's, Ruby Tuesday, TGI Fridays, and Brios, in addition to thousands of smaller restaurants, offer birthday freebies and other great deals. It can be difficult for diners celebrating a birthday to even know where to find online registration forms making sites such as FavoriteCandle.com, the largest database of free and discounted birthday meals, an invaluable tool for diners to explore their options and get the most out of restaurant promotionals aimed at birthday celebrators.

Not interested in actually signing up for coupons? Not a problem. FavoriteCandle and Freebie Depot also list locations where birthday treats can be redeemed just by showing an ID. A quick browse session is often enough for birthday diners to find great places to snag free birthday meals, desserts and drinks on short notice.
