In just over a week foodies from around the world will gather in Portland, Maine to enjoy the 6th annual Harvest on the Harbor food and wine festival set for Oct. 23-26.

The state of Maine's premier culinary event is the chance to eat, drink, and taste exceptional food, beer, wine, and spirits from Maine and beyond. Sampling events with award-winning chefs, winemakers and brewers, epicurean presentations, the popular Maine Lobster Chef of the Year and Maine's Best Farm to Table Restaurant competitions, and live musical entertainment will be part of this year's festival.

The new International Maine -Taste the World sampling event will celebrate the diversity of the cuisine offered in Maine. The state's best ethnic eateries from Thai to Italian will provide samples of signature dishes expertly paired with beverages from around the globe. Other popular sip and sample events include the opening night Grand Tasting on the Harbor at Ocean Gateway on the Portland waterfront, and the two Samplings at the Marketplace sessions inside the 300-foot long Oceanside Pavilion on Oct. 26.

Great tunes and grilling will mix during the Brews & Blues BBQ event with Maine's leading pit masters and barbeque aficionados. The live blues music, craft beers from Maine and beyond, and delicious smoked and grilled cuisine made it a sold out event last year.

Guests can learn the art of wine making or craft brewing during Down East Insider Experience events. Meet and greets with cookbook authors, and presentations from bakers, cheese makers and chefs are also part of the fun.

All access and individual event tickets can be purchased at the festival website http://www.harvestontheharbor.com/. The site also has the daily schedule and descriptions of participating chefs, wineries, breweries and culinary businesses.
