HP Hood, the leading dairy brand in New England, today announced that it has partnered with renowned Chef Chris Coombs, owner/chef at Boston-area award-winning restaurants Boston Chops, dbar and Deuxave, for its second annual "Chef Creations Inspired by Hood Cream" campaign. The partnership will teach consumers about how easy it is to create restaurant-quality dishes at home using Hood Cream. Throughout the year, Chef Coombs will represent Hood Cream through cooking demonstrations, event appearances, recipe development and sweepstakes, including a chance to win a private, six-course dinner at his AAA Four Diamond restaurant Deuxave.
"I'm excited to be collaborating with Hood Cream by lending my expertise to consumers," said Chef Coombs. "I use Hood Cream at my restaurants and it's what I use at home. My family has a long history with the brand my grandfather worked there for more than 50 years so I'm honored to be carrying on the tradition."
On April 8, 2014, Chef Coombs will become part of the future of culinary demonstrations by leading his and Hood's first-ever Google+ Hangout cooking class. At 6:00 p.m., fans can log on to plus.google.com/+hphood to watch Chef Coombs create three dishes featuring Hood Cream perfect for a spring celebration meal. This interactive demonstration will inspire viewers to create restaurant-quality meals at home with Hood Cream. Viewers can also send questions to Chef Coombs that he'll answer live on air.
To celebrate the partnership, Hood Cream Facebook fans can enter to win an exclusive, private six-course dinner for two at Deuxave that will feature Hood Cream and includes wine pairing at each course. To win, fans can visit the "Chef Creations Inspired by Hood Cream" tab on the Hood Facebook page and fill out the short entry form. The contest starts on March 31, 2014, and one winner will be randomly selected on April 18, 2014.
"Top New England chefs like Chef Chris Coombs have trusted Hood Cream in their recipes for decades," said Lynne Bohan, vice president of communications and government affairs at Hood. "We're excited to partner with Chef Coombs, and look forward to sharing his tips and tricks with consumers so they can create delicious, restaurant-quality dishes at home."
To further the education of young chefs and promote using quality ingredients, Hood Cream has also partnered with the Massachusetts Restaurant Association Education Foundation (MRAEF) to support young chefs. Hood was the title sponsor at the MRA's ProStart School-to-Career cooking competition in March and has funded a scholarship that will be given to one lucky student recipient in June 2014. Launched in 1999, Chef Coombs was a part of the inaugural class of chefs to participate in the competition and is now a mentor to the student teams. The program hosts more than 1,000 students from 22 Massachusetts high schools each year.
