Nepali Tea Traders announced that its premium teas are now available in Whole Foods Stores across Colorado as well as in a growing number of specialty tea shops nationwide. The Colorado company offers natural and organic teas exclusively from small farms in Nepal, grown at optimal altitudes of 4,000 - 8,000 feet.

"With the interest and growth in premium teas, we're delighted to offer our unique high-quality teas to the growing community of tea drinkers in North America," said Maggie Le Beau, founder of the company. Orthodox teas from the Ilam region of Nepal have not been widely available in the United States until now. The relatively young age of the tea plants and the growing altitudes promote slower growth, which results in higher concentrations of flavor and healthful benefits.

Confirming expert opinions that teas from Nepal are among the world's best, Nepali Tea Traders earned a North American Tea Championship award last week. Its Kalo Chia black tea, from the fall 2013 harvest, received a third place designation from a judging panel that includes leading tea experts and professional cuppers. The pure black tea (not flavored or sweetened) is described as rich and supple, with vibrant notes of fruit, honey and spice.

"We are delighted and honored to receive this award, which further confirms the quality of our tea," said Le Beau. "The award is especially exciting for us as a new company and for our tea partners in Nepal."

The company's teas are cultivated on small farms by growers who rely on natural, chemical-free farming methods. Nepali Tea Traders is committed to fair prices for the farmers and reinvestment in the tea industry in Nepal. Additionally, every purchase supports the Nepal Youth Foundation, an award-winning non-profit that provides shelter, education, healthcare and social services.

Colorado Whole Foods Carries Six Popular Teas
Fifteen Whole Foods Stores in Colorado now offer six of the company's most popular teas in tins designed to preserve freshness. Its loose teas include:

  • Himalayan Golden Black Tea: Cultivated at altitude and partially rolled by hand, this traditional method produces a well-balanced black tea, with a subtle apricot finish.
  • Pokhara Classic Green Tea: Reflects the best qualities of NTT's high-altitude Himalayan green teas - vibrant, fresh and flavorful.
  • Annapurna Amber Oolong Tea: Rich and smooth, this beautiful amber tea reveals a hint of muscat grape.
  • Sandakphu Silver White Tea: A short, gentle oxidation and wood firing produce a pure, smooth, low astringency tea with wonderful hints of orange and lemon.

The company also offers two teas in eco-friendly pyramid bags, for consumers who want both high quality and convenience.

  • Nepalese Masala: A black tea that is lightly spiced with cinnamon, cardamom, ginger and pepper blended provides an authentic taste of Nepal.
  • Shangri-la Classic: A wonderful everyday black tea, with the amber hue and delicate notes of stone fruit characteristic of Nepal's high mountain teas.

Tea shops and specialty groceries in Colorado and across the country carry selected teas from the company's line of 25 teas. Information on the company's full line of tea, teaware and gifts is available at http://www.NepaliTeaTraders.com.
