January is a big month for chocolate lovers. As we look forward to National Hot Chocolate Day on 1/31, don't forget about Chocolate Cake Day on 1/27. We've rounded up some of our favorite chocolate cakes that are served at New York City restaurants including Mastro's, Benares, Junior's Restaurants, Tudor City Steakhouse, Burke & Wills, Dos Caminos, and Parker & Quinn.
A little history. The Aztecs invented chocolate 3,000 years ago. Even though the confection has been around for thousands of years, Dr. James Baker and a chocolate maker first developed chocolate cake in 1765. Since then, cake lovers have enjoyed varieties that include German Chocolate Cake, Flourless Fudge Cake, Black Forest Cake, Molton Lava Cake, Devil's Food Cake, Chocolate Cheesecake and more.
Here are some great spots where you can indulge your chocolate cake cravings on National Chocolate Cake Day or anytime!

The edges are encrusted with cake crumbs and it is served with chocolate and caramel sauces, fresh raspberries, and fresh mint. Visit: https://www.mastrosrestaurants.com/Locations/NY/New-York/.
