Community Partner Monmouth's inaugural Chili Chowder Challenge featured thirty-three chilis, chowders, and cornbreads from Monmouth residents, businesses, civic organizations, and town departments. Community-minded individuals and families joined the fun on Saturday, January 25 from 4 to 6 p.m. at Helen Melledy Hall to support the Families Helping Families Fuel Assistance program started by Nancy Ludewig and Darlene Sanborn. The event, which featured awards for Best Chili, Best Chowder, and Kickin' Cornbread, raised more than $1,200 for the Fuel Fund.

Top prize in each category went to the following local businesses:

Best Chili "Firehouse Chili" Monmouth's Fire Department & Auxiliary

Best Chowder "Smokin' Corn Chowder" Jason Burgess Builder's

Best Cornbread "Morning Sunshine Cornbread" A Rise and Shine Bed & Breakfast
