We recently attended an outstanding event, "Vins De Provence, The Taste of Style" at Refinery Rooftop in the Fashion District of NYC that showcased a fabulous selection of French wines.
Located between the Mediterranean Sea and the Alps Mountains, Provence vineyards benefit from an exceptional terroir. The majority of the wines showcased at the event were the rose selections that the region is renowned for. We were impressed by the fine choices at a reasonable price point that were on display by fifteen of Provence's producers.
We sampled the Mirabeau Etoille; 2016 by Les Vignobles De Berne with a blend of Grenache and Syrah; Whispering Angel: 2016 by Caves D'Esclans with a blend of Grenache, Vermentino and Cinsault; Mirabeau Pure: 2016 by Mirabeau En Provence with a blend of Grenache and Syrah; and Symphony: 2016 by Chateau Sainte Marguerite with a blend of Cinsault and Grenache. These and many more were absolutely delightful.
The event also featured fascinating seminars by Jennifer Simonetti-Bryan, wine expert and author of "The One Minute Wine Master. Her presentations included Rose Any Way: A Look at Provence's Versatility and Provence Uncorked: An Authentic Taste of the Region.
Wines of Provence are wonderful to sip and savor with a wide variety of foods. Whether you are enjoying cheeses, seafood, meats, fruit, or dessert, it is easy to make perfect pairings. And with the warm weather on the rise, a chilled bottle of rose is perfect when entertaining guests or dining al fresco.
