The opening of "Pandora-The World of Avatar" at Animal Kingdom in Walt Disney World (WDW) has debuted new dining experiences for guests. The culinary teams at Disney prove that they are totally on trend with local sourcing and providing menus for all tastes, styles and dietary needs.
Satu'li Canteen is an eatery located in the heart of the Pandoran attraction. This approachable, fast-casual eatery is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The inviting atmosphere has comfortable seating for parties of all sizes and the décor features colorful artifacts of Pandora's Na'vi people.
We chatted with Robert Adams, Culinary Director of Disney's Animal Kingdom and Anna Otero-Knox, Manager of Pandora Food and Beverage.
Adams told us that Animal Kingdom generally has a "fresh approach for guests." He pointed out that there are "show elements" at the eateries where people can observe preparation techniques for their food. He commented that while there is an emphasis on ethnicity, simplified menus and doing things well are top the considerations of the culinary teams.
Otero-Knox told us that in Pandora, they are placing importance on healthy culture. The menu, inspired by a "bountiful harvest," has fresh, plant-based foods, hearty proteins and a nice selection of kid-friendly items. She stated, "At the Satu'li Canteen, guests can make their own bowl with options that can be vegan, vegetarian and gluten free."
Both Adams and Otero-Knox are excited about the opportunity for guests to use mobile ordering with a credit card. This convenience will allow visitors to make the most of their day.
