In a 2013 survey, researchers analyzed more than 373,000 American adults in all 50 states about how much fruit and vegetables they eat. The federal dietary guidelines recommend that individuals eat between 1.5 and 2 cups of fruit per day and 2 to 3 cups of vegetables per day. 87% of the people surveyed did not eat the suggested amount.
