The Kroger Co. (NYSE: KR), the nation's largest traditional grocery retailer with 14 stores throughout the Triangle and North Carolina, has announced that it will host a 2013 "Celebrate the Season" open house at all locations Saturday, Nov. 9 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. This special event will transform the stores into a holiday party where customers can enjoy a variety of samples, demonstrations, special sales and other unique activities promoting ways to entertain, cook and decorate for the holidays.

Customers who visit this open house will receive informational brochures on Kroger programs and special deals as they enter participating stores. Stations will be set up throughout each store offering samples of holiday treats and demonstrations on how to create seasonal favorites. Display and sample items will vary at each store but can include selections from the meat/seafood, produce and deli/bakery departments.

Additionally, the open house will serve as the kick-off event for the annual Salvation Army Angel Tree Holiday Dinner Promotion, which will run through Saturday, Dec. 14. Each of the 14 stores in the Triangle will host an Angel Tree with up to 250 names of children from the community. Customers can select a name from the Angel Tree and pay $25 for a Kroger Gift Card for that child. The money raised from these purchases will go to the Salvation Army, which will present the families of those children with $25 gift cards for a holiday meal.
