In honor of the 2014 FIFA World Cup, Jones Wood Foundry, the atmospheric British boite that channels and English country inn on New York City's Upper East Side, will show every game live in all three of its rooms - the installation of large screens in its two dining areas having expanded the World Cup watching possibilities beyond the TVs in the bar. So footie-philes can catch all the action over lunch, dinner or brunch, depending on game time June 12 through July 13, accompanied by specially priced $6 Carlsberg beer which will be available during every World Cup match. And on weekdays, the food driven pub will fan the flame of the excitement on the field with the thrill of the grill set-up in its garden for Jones Wood Foundry's Weekday World Cup Watching BBQ Lunch, offered Monday thru Friday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. for the duration of the tournament. ('till 4:30 when games start at 4), starting Thursday, June 12.
Fans won't be penalized for loading their plates (with a little assistance from the BBQ referee chef) with the cooked-to-order burgers, salmon burgers, Myers of Keswick sausages, hanger steaks and calamari, before they score with the selection of sides - mixed leaf salad, quinoa and farro salad and tomato and red onion salad. All for $26 per person. Once their plates are loaded, they will have another choice - where to sit. The bar, the conservatory with its communal table or the dining room. Sightlines to the screens will be perfect in all three. Wherever they sit, World Cup watchers can wash down their 'cue with those $6 Carlsberg beers.
In addition to those $6 Carlsbergs being a fixture during all matches, a continuous series of merchandise and beer giveaways will fuel the World Cup spirit at Jones Wood Foundry throughout the tournament. Jones Wood Foundry is located at 401 E. 76th Street, New York, NY 10021, (212) 249-2700, www.joneswoodfoundry.com.
