Johnny Rockets, the global restaurant chain has opened its newest restaurant this week in one of New York City's busiest areas around Penn Station, Madison Square Garden and the 34 th Street Subway Station. The grand opening will benefit a local New York City Boys & Girls Club. Johnny Rockets is donating $5,000 to the organization to support its after-school programming.
The new Johnny Rockets is open early every day for breakfast to meet the needs of commuters on their way to work and will be serving late into the night for those looking for a great burger, shake and much more after an eveningout.
Celebrating its 30 th Anniversary, the brand has always been known for its 50s diner look complete with jukeboxes, dancing servers dressed in the decade's familiar soda fountain uniforms and its original burgers and shakes. The new restaurant in New York City has a new design with a modern look that the brand refers to as the new Johnny Rockets Diner 2.0. In addition, Johnny Rockets' logo has a dramatically different look and the restaurant team uniforms are also new. Servers and managers are now wearing black or dark denim jeans with white oxford shirts for servers and dark shirts for managers. Waist aprons worn by servers are denim striped with front pockets and full bib aprons are worn by cooks.

There is no doubt when people see the exterior of the new Johnny Rockets what the brand is best known for its world famous burgers. Adorning one window is a huge graphic of a Johnny Rockets burger and above the entrance the words Our Passion Your Burger. Inside the restaurant guests will enjoy Johnny Rockets new modern version of a diner. The lighting is a mix of contemporary and industrial glass globe pendants with caged pendants and an accent of red color. The furniture includes both upholstered seating and tables and chairs with warm grey tones, wood detailing and a splash of red. The open kitchen has white wall tiles and stainless steel wall panels.
Sayings on the white brick veneer walls include To make by hand is to create perfection, Stay Original! and Laughter is the brightest where food is the best Stay Original! In addition, there is an oversized graphic of a chef putting the finishing touch on a Johnny Rockets burger. The easily modified restaurant design and logo is all part of the evolution of Johnny Rockets which also includes new restaurants with drive thrus, kiosks in malls and airports and other non-traditional venues.

James Walker, President of Operations and Development and Johnny Rockets' own top chef, Calvin Harris will be conducting an after-school event at the Education Alliance Boys & Girls Club at the School of the Future located at 127 E. 22 nd Street in New York City. Students from the middle school will have the opportunity to work with Chef Calvin as he grills burgers and hand-spins shakes. Club youth will build their burgers and shakes with a variety of toppings and learn about all that goes on behind the scenes in a restaurant. In addition, the Johnny Rockets team will share tips on ways that the boys and girls can help out in the kitchen at home. Other activities will include creating art from ketchup and Q & A about the restaurant industry.
