Truett-Hurst Inc., the leading Sonoma County wine producer of the Truett-Hurst and VML brands, today announces the launch of its all-new line of eco-friendly "California Square" fine wines.
California Square comes in three varieties of super-premium appellation-based wines, each offered in a striking, retro/chic bottle, crafted by winemaker Virginia Marie Lambrix, the winemaker for VML and Truett-Hurst wineries. The 2012 vintage of California Square includes a Russian River Valley Chardonnay, a Paso Robles Cabernet and a unique Paso Robles Three Red Blend.
According to winemaker, Lambrix, "Introducing an alternative package is tricky. The wine inside has to over deliver and create a memorable impression for the consumer." She adds,"We worked hard to create these wines- from carefully selecting the vineyards to blending over the course of weeks. We truly hope the customers see these wines as a testament of our commitment to both quality and eco-friendly principles." Available in stores throughout the United States and Canada, the wines are an excellent value and retail for under $20.
In the United States California Square is available in Total Wine & More stores and online at totalwine.com. The three wines were a huge smash when Truett-Hurst and Total Wine & More featured them in a sneak preview prior to the 65 th annual Primetime Emmy Awards in Los Angeles in late September. Stars like Modern Family's Ed O'Neil, The Good Wife's Chris Noth and Emmy winner Tony Hale of Veep raved about the wines during the event.
Accentuating California Square's super premium wine is its distinctive package, created by design firm Stranger & Stranger's Kevin Shaw, which harkens back to classic spirit bottles with their square shapes and memorable art. The packaging features embossing, vintage graphics, and lush deep shades of gold, burgundy, and cobalt blue selected to appeal to wine lovers' taste and style. Each side of California Square offers a different tactile impression, enhancing the sensory aspect of fine wine.
California Square's exquisite good looks beg for repurposing. The empty bottles can be filled with olive oils or infused vinegars and can be used as flower vases or candleholders. Additional ideas for repurposing and a request for more ideas from consumers can be found on the California Square website: www.casquarewines.com.
