Hudson River Park's 15th Annual Blues BBQ Festival to be Held 8/23

Hudson River Park will host the 15th annual Blues BBQ Festival on Saturday, August 23, 2014 at Pier 84 in Hudson River Park. The Festival will pair award winning blues and roots musicians with three of New York City's most iconic BBQ restaurants: Mighty Quinn's Barbeque, Delaney Barbecue, and Dinosaur Bar-B-Que, for the most epic party this summer in Hudson River Park. Hudson River Park's Blues BBQ Festival (#HRPBluesBBQ) is one the Park's most popular events.

This year, the Blues BBQ Festival at Hudson River Park will serve as the launch pad for the Hudson River Park 550 (#HRP550), a week-long fundraising initiative taking place August 22nd-29th, to drive support for the Park's maintenance and beautification. Hudson River Park does not receive government funding for park operations, and relies solely on private donations and the Park's limited generated revenues. The goal of the fundraising campaign is to garner support of 550 new donors to Friends of Hudson River Park- the independent nonprofit 501(c) (3) organization dedicated to the completion, care, and enhancement of the Park, and the designated fundraising partner of the Hudson River Park Trust. For the duration of the Hudson River Park 550 (#HRP550), Friends of Hudson River Park Board Chair Michael Novogratz will match each donation dollar for dollar up to $25,000.

Initiatives like Hudson River Park 550 (#HRP550) help to support the maintenance and preservation of all 550 acres of this world-class urban oasis, which offers a myriad of free and low-cost activities, including Hudson River Park's Blues BBQ Festival (#HRPBluesBBQ), to both native New Yorkers and visitors from around the world.

2014 Blues BBQ Festival artists include Big Sam's Funk Nation, John Németh, Samantha Fish, Shemekia Copeland, and Slide Brothers.
