A North Carolina-based, craft beer podcast entitled "Tales from the Cask," issued an open call for homebrewer submissions for its upcoming Homebrew Competition. Beer lovers are invited to submit their best homebrew, no matter the style, to be judged on Monday, Aug. 8 at 4 p.m.
"Tales from the Cask" is an award-winning podcast exploring the world of craft beers from a local and national point of view. Coming from North Carolina beverage wholesaler Mims Distributing Company, the Tales crew is comprised of Mims Distributing's CEO Chip Mims along with Tony Walldroff and Jennifer Balik, two Certified Cicerones . Together with a panel of judges, they will blind-taste each beer without any identifying information about the brews. Using a modified version of the beer evaluation sheet found in Randy Mosher's Tasting Beer, the panel will judge brews in a "True to Style" category and a "Wild Card" category. The beer with the highest score in each beer style category will win a $50 gift card to Atlantic Brewing Supply and a gift basket of Tales merchandise with limited beers selected by the Tales crew. The overall winner will be given the opportunity to brew his or her beer at the Mims Distributing in-house brewery and be tapped at the facilities upstairs bar.
Submissions are being accepted now, and applicants must deliver their homebrew to Mims Distributing Company's headquarters, located at 8605 Ebenezer Church Road, Raleigh, North Carolina 27617 by Monday, Aug. 8. Competition is open to any individual 21 years of age or older.

"We can't wait to taste the entries and discover what other craft beer lovers are creating, and we look forward to brewing the winner's beer together in our in-house brewery."
