Today, National S'mores Day, Girl Scouts of the USA (GSUSA) announced that its popular Girl Scout S'mores cookies will return as part of the 2018 Girl Scout Cookie season lineup. With its debut last season, the Girl Scout S'mores became the most popular flavor to launch in the 100 years of Girl Scouts selling cookies.
Girl Scouts across the United States will offer one of the two varieties of Girl Scout S'mores, which join classics like Thin Mints , Caramel deLites /Samoas , and Trefoils /Shortbread. This means consumers will again be able to get their hands on the delicious cookies, while powering unique and amazing experiences for girls with each and every purchase.
As a nod to the different ways people "s'more," Girl Scout councils will offer one of two versions of the cookie: one is a crispy graham cookie double dipped in a crme icing and enrobed in a chocolatey coating. The other is a crunchy graham sandwich cookie with creamy chocolate and marshmallowy filling, which is embossed with designs that honor Girl Scouts' Outdoor badges.
"We're incredibly excited to announce that our popular Girl Scout S'mores will return next cookie season!" said GSUSA CEO Sylvia Acevedo. "While the tradition of making and enjoying s'mores in the outdoors was popularized by Girl Scouts as early as the 1920s, our s'mores cookies are also an important reminder of how necessary it is to support programs for girls to explore the outdoors. Girls learn important skills like resilience, teamwork, and leadership when they participate in outdoor activities with Girl Scouts. Our programming offers numerous ways for them to have adventurous experiences in the outdoors in a girls-only space where they feel confident taking healthy risks. In fact, Girl Scouts are actually more likely than nonGirl Scouts to participate in outdoor activitiesso get involved today!"
Girl Scout S'mores are a modern representation of Girl Scouts' longstanding commitment to all the outdoors has to offer girls. As reported in the Girl Scout Research Institute's More Than S'mores, there's a positive correlation between outdoor experiences and girls' understanding of their leadership potential. And according to a recent report, The Girl Scout Impact Study, Girl Scouts are almost twice as likely as their nonGirl Scout peers to participate in outdoor activities (76 percent versus 43 percent). In July, GSUSA furthered its commitment to offer girls opportunities in the outdoors with the release of multidisciplinary outdoor and STEM programming through which girls can participate in age-appropriate activities ranging from planning an eco-friendly camping trip, to collecting environmental data to help real scientists, to navigating the wilderness.
Each and every purchase of Girl Scout Cookies100 percent of the net revenue of which stays localis an investment in girls and their leadership capabilities, both now and in the future.
