Lower Manhattan and South Street Seaport District residents and visitors from everywhere are invited to a special fall apple harvest celebration on Sunday, September 30, 2018 from 11:00am-5:30pm on Piers 16 & 17. EscapeMaker.com, New York's premiere guide to local getaways, day trips and farm escapes, will host its 4th Annual "Applepalooza" festival presented by the New York Apple Association in conjunction with the Fulton Stall Market's regular open-air Sunday Farmers Market.

This year's event, "Applepalooza + Craft Wine, Cider and Beverage Fest" will celebrate New York State-grown apples and farm-made apple products including fresh-pressed New York cider, hard cider, pies and cider donuts, as well as local wines from the nearby Shawangunk Wine Trail, and other New York state craft beverages. Wineries like Whitecliff Vineyard, Palaia Winery, Glorie Winery, Brotherhood Winery (America's oldest winery, established in 1839) and craft beverage makers like Hudson Valley Farm House Cider and Brooklyn Cider House will be sampling, selling by the bottle, and sharing local knowledge about their spectacular fall harvest destinations and events to prospective visitors.

Cynthia Haskins, President of the New York State Apple Association comments, "New York is known for growing the best tasting apples and this year's apple crop is beautiful!" Everyone attending will receive a freshly picked New York State apple.

Fulton Stall Market's regular Sunday farmers market on Pier 17 plaza will be in full swing, and Applepalooza attendees can stock up on fall harvest season fruits and vegetables, specialty fruit preserves, baked goods artisanal sauces, local honey wine, and much more from 20+ vendors. The South Street Seaport Museum will be on hand with information about the fascinating historic ships docked at Pier 16, museum exhibits and events and guided tours for both first-timers and old-timers rediscovering the Seaport District.

"Fall in New York State is a picture-perfect time to plan a visit to a farm where you can eat an apple right off the tree, sink your teeth into a cider donut still warm and covered in cinnamon, raise a toast to a gorgeous day in a vineyard or sample a flight of hard cider produced and bottled right on the property. We're looking forward to inspiring local agritourism trips by Fulton Stall Market shoppers, families and the greater Seaport District community," said Caylin Sanders, Founder and CEO of EscapeMaker.com.

This free farmer's market event is a family-friendly fall celebration! There will be fresh apples aplenty, apple treats to sample, live music, games and cider donut-eating contests for all ages. Attendees 21 or over will be able to sample and purchase (by the bottle) a wide range of craft beverages from 20+ Hudson Valley wineries and other craft beverage producers.

In addition, EscapeMaker will be providing general agritourism information about:

  • The farm trail of Westchester County in the Hudson Valley
  • Farm escapes and hot craft beverage spots in Ithaca & Tompkins County in the Finger Lakes
  • Craft beverage trails and local food excursions in Central New York and the Sullivan Catskills
  • Pick-your-own apple and farm animal feeding fall tours to Dutchess County - by direct bus from Midtown and train via Metro-North Railroad.

The event is presented by the New York Apple Association and Fulton Stall Market and sponsored by Hudson Valley Wine Magazine, The New York Cider Association, The Shawangunk Wine Trail, Metro-North Railroad, and Edible Magazine with support from the South Street Seaport Museum.
