After one of the worst wildfires in California history, how do you mobilize a massive, nationwide effort to help the Butte County area rebuild and recover? Sierra Nevada Brewery came up with a unique idea: recruit 1,400 breweries across the U.S. to join together in brewing a special fundraiser beer for the Camp Fire Relief Fund. Suppliers donated ingredients to all the participating brewers nationwide, and even wholesalers and retailers came on board to carry the beer and donate every dollar they received. All of them agreed to do this at no cost, to benefit people they'd never met. That way, all 100 percent of the sales from Resilience Butte County Proud IPA would go to the relief initiative.

Beer Labels Donated Too
Label supplier, Lightning Labels of Denver, did its part for the cause, contributing 1,200 labels and enlisting nine Denver-area breweries to help produce the beer bottle labels.

A few of the advantages that Lightning Labels brought to the table for the beer label printing project included 16 years of experience; fast, 48-72 hour turnaround; free ground shipping for orders placed online; the custom digital printing capacity to turn out between 50 to 15 million labels; and the kind of versatility that enabled them to respond to changes quickly and efficiently. Lightning Labels also offers a full range of label material options.

Recipe Shared, Local Promotions Launched
The recipe for the citrus-flavored beer was shared by Sierra Nevada with other breweries nationally, so it could be produced and distributed locally, from East to West Coast and everywhere in between. Wholesalers and retailers were enlisted to carry the beer in both cans and draft. And when all was said and done, over 17,000 barrels, or 4.2 million pints, were brewed for the fundraiser. A special "Resilience Night" was held to launch the promotion in late December, encouraging people to head to their local participating breweries to try their versions of Resilience IPA. The program was designed to last until supplies ran out. Massive Outpouring of Generosity

Commenting on the relief effort, Lightning Labels' Director of Sales and Client Services Gary Paulin said, "This massive outpouring of generosity and support across the country to help total strangers is incredibly heartening. It reminds all of us that we remain a country of givers, willing to help with our hearts and pocketbooks in times of need."
