San Francisco's historic waterfront district begins its 2013 holiday season in true San Francisco style, with a gustatory salute to the sidling crab. The second annual Crab Fest hails this most sought-after crustacean with three hours of eating, drinking and celebrating the season. The festival will take place on Sunday December 8, 2013 from 12 noon to 3 p.m. on the terrace level of the Maritime Museum which offers stunning views of Alcatraz Island, Angel Island and Fisherman's Wharf. The event will feature signature crab dishes prepared by chefs from renownEd Fisherman's Wharf restaurants and will be complimented by beverage tastings from local wineries such as City Cellars, Pushback Wines, G. Reedy Wines, and more. Participating restaurants will include San Francisco's most reputable seafood legends such as: Alioto's, Bistro Boudin, Blue Mermaid Chowder House & Bar, Fog Harbor Fish House, Pescatore, Pier Market Restaurant, Castagnola's, and more. Tickets for this local food and wine feast are $40 per person if bought online in advance and $45 at the door. Interested attendees are encouraged to buy tickets early as Crab Fest 2012 and the recent Wharf Fest 2013 Chowder Competition were both sold out events. Tickets are available at http://VisitFishermansWharf.com/CrabFest.

"At Fisherman's Wharf, we are excited to once again watch our local fishing fleet open the Bay Area's crab season," said TRoy Campbell, FWCBD Executive Director. "Our Crab Fest also inaugurates the busy holiday season with an opportunity for locals and visitors to connect with some of the amazing chefs who work year-round at Fisherman's Wharf restaurants."

For generations, San Francisco locals and visitors alike have flocked to Fisherman's Wharf during the fall Dungeness crab season to watch the local fishing fleet unload their live haul, and to enjoy fresh crab dishes at the Wharf's many seafood restaurants. Crab Fest will demonstrate many different ways to cook and enjoy crab, with participating Fisherman's Wharf chefs sharing their favorite crab dishes.
