After three years of planning, Brew: The Museum of Beer, the widely anticipated multimillion dollar national beer museum, hosted a Coming Out Party and launched its Indiegogo crowdfunding campaign on Wednesday, October 19 in Pittsburgh.

Brew is dedicated to the fascinating, 10,000-year-old story of beer, and will be a must-see, 50,000-square-foot complex capable of accommodating 400,000+ national and international visitors per year. Using state-of-the-art interactive technology, Brew will be like no other beer museum in the world. The size and scope of Brew will be comparable to Dublin's Guinness Storehouse or Cleveland's Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

The sold-out event welcomed hundreds of attendees, including local dignitaries and civic leaders, as well as beer industry professionals.

"The dream of Brew has now become a reality," said Matt Sherwin, one of Brew's founders. "The Coming Out Party was a tremendous success as we shared with a packed house our vision of making Brew the world's largest, most comprehensive museum dedicated to the story of beer. Hopefully, the momentum coming out of the party, and the attention it drew will greatly assist with our crowdfunding effort."

Executives hope to raise at least $50,000 through the Indiegogo campaign, which began October 19.

At the Party, Brew executives shared the targeted launch of Spring 2018. Executives also shared plans for unique beer artifacts and exhibits, a 300-seat brewpub, gift store, Beer Hall of Fame, and a Brewers Wall capable of including information on all 4,800 breweries in the U.S.

Brew anticipates 200 new jobs for the Pittsburgh region, more than $100 million in annual economic impact, and $6+MM annually in net new tax revenues for the city, Allegheny County, and State of PA. Brew will be designed in collaboration with internationally-recognized experts in museums, beer studies, retail, events, and food & beverage services. State-of-the-art technology will underpin the entire experience, maximizing visitor engagement through interactive exhibits and activities.

More About Brew - America has large-scale museums dedicated to many important aspects of human culture but, surprisingly, no epic museum dedicated to beer until now. Beer is an awe-inspiring lens that can be used to understand all aspects of what it means to be human our sociology, our anthropology, our history, our economics, our politics. All of this will be explored at Brew through the most cutting-edge, best practices in the entertainment industry.
