The Anthony in Greenwich Village is ideal for the neighborhood. This chic dining and nightlife establishment has been designed to evoke as sense of the area's history while totally maintaining its contemporary appeal. It is named after Anthony Lipensard Bleecker, the prominent 18th century entrepreneur who purchased property throughout the Village. The Anthony was opened in late 2016 by Managing Partner Nicholas Semkiw of ADB Hospitality whose vision for the venue has already gained a great reputation for delicious cuisine and a top-notch beverage program.

The interior is cool and cozy, with towering ceilings, and great seating options for guests. Wall décor includes a mural from the book, "Greenwich Village Girl" and captivating black and white photos of the Village from the 1950's. In the back of the venue is a huge bar and lounge space.

We stopped by early on a Saturday night. The menu features American classics and elevated pub dishes with a distinctive flair. There's just the right selection of choices to please everyone in your party. We started our meal with a few starters, perfect for table share or anytime eats. Their savory Shrimp Steamed Buns are garnished with avocado and spicy aioli and the delectable broiled scallop appetizer is prepared to perfection. One of their most popular entrees is a twist on a comfort food favorite. The Crispy Duck & Waffles is served with tender confit of duck and crispy buttermilk waffles, glazed with a maple sauce to add just the right touch of sweetness. The Tony Prime Burger is a top-notch craft burger made Pat LaFrieda Prime Select dry-aged patty, topped with creamed spinach cheese, signature steak sauce and crispy red onions served on an Orwashers bun.

Save room for dessert or stop by for sweets. The Anthony serves inventive housemade desserts by Michelin-starred pastry chef Ashton Warren. Indulge in sweets like the Caramel Corn Cheesecake, the "Fruity Pebbles" Citrus Meringue Pie, and our favorite, the Coconut Cake.

The beverage program has been well designed to pair with The Anthony's cuisine. We like the carefully curated list of cocktails by Mixologist, Anthony Nelson. Fresh flavor combinations are unique and trendy. One of their house favorites is their Suzy's Secret with Double Cross Vodka, fresh muddled raspberries and cucumber, topped with Champagne. The Matador is a spicy blend that is sure to please with mezcal, habañero-infused honey, crushed cilantro, lime juice, and bitters. The beverage list also includes two house cocktails on tap, Negroni and a Jaegermeister-spiked Manhattan, as well as draught rosé, a nice wine list, seven beers by the pint, and six beers by the bottle.

After you relish your dining experience, stay for the vibrant nightlife scene. The Anthony's comes alive with music and elements you won't find anywhere else. As a special effect, there's invisible ink graffiti across the walls that is viewed with blacklights, pulsing with a luminescent glow from yellow to purple.

The Anthony is a new home for people in the area and it is well worth the trip from anywhere in town. Dine, drink, and dance the night away at one of the West Village's top hotspots.
