If you haven't discovered FryGuys on the Lower East Side of NYC, now's the time. We stopped by the neighborhood favorite on a Friday night to satisfy our potato craving. It's worth the trip from anywhere!
The setting is vibrant, original, and has a fun retro charm. There's some comfortable seating and FryGuys also does a bustling take-out business. Every element of the eatery's interior has been designed by partners in business and life, McKenzie Foster and Marco Lanuto. The couple's creativity is also evident in their menu.
We had a chance to chat for a few minutes with McKenzie and Marco. McKenzie pointed out that even though they have only been open for about 6 months, they already have a very loyal customer base. She commented, "It's all about the neighborhood."
Marco told us that one of the best things about having the business is making people happy. "Customers get the choices that they deserve, good comfort food that's not pretentious."
Everything on the menu is made in house and it's all at a great price point. All fries are made from hand-cut Idaho Russet Potatoes and are cooked to perfection. Start out with classic or spicy fries and add sauces like chipotle mayo, ranch, pesto aioli, smokey bbq, honey sesame, and more.
We opted to indulge in a few of the house signature loaded fries. The "Drunk Guy" had crispy fries topped with bacon, queso, and guacamole. Another yummy choice is their "Mac & Cheese Tots." We loved the crunchy tots topped with creamy mac & cheese. We'll be back for "The Southern Guy" with Double Fried Chicken and Maple Gravy.
For the big fry appetite or group gathering, FryGuys even has "The Frycano" with 12 towering tiers or a total of 12 pounds of fries. Add meats and sauces to customize your order. One day advance notice is needed.
Be sure to enjoy some beverages that pair with menu items. Rich handmade Shakes include caramel, chocolate, and vanilla or indulge in a Root Beer Float. Soft drinks are also available.
FryGuys is open into the wee hours of the morning for potato lovers in the city. We guarantee that once you visit, you'll be back.
