The March of Dimes and Grady Health System have teamed up to present The Farmer & The Chef, the premier dining event and fundraiser for the March of Dimes, Georgia Chapter. Now in its fourth year, the dinner will be held at The Ritz-Carlton, Buckhead on Saturday, September 19, 2015 at 6:00PM.
This year, the culinary talent is second to none. Chefs Kevin Rathbun (Kevin Rathbun Steak, Rathbun's, KR SteakBar, Krog Bar), Todd Ginsberg (The General Muir, Yalla, Fred's Meat & Bread), Eli Kirshtein (The Luminary), Franck Steigerwald (The Ritz-Carlton, Buckhead), and Andrea Kirshtein (The Spence) provide the five course dinner.
The premise of the evening is simple, pair local farmers with local chefs. The farmers provide their product to chefs, who then prepare tasting samples to all event attendees. Healthy eating is something the March of Dimes believes in and promotes to women who are considering pregnancy, and this event is an opportunity to share this message with the greater Atlanta community.
The March of Dimes and Grady have a long history. The March of Dimes is a supporter of Grady Centering Pregnancy program, which was one of the first sites in Georgia and is still housed at Grady. Also, Grady was the first hospital in metro-Atlanta to receive March of Dimes-Georgia Hospital Association-Georgia Department of Public Health 2014 banner recognition for their hard-stop policy on early-elective deliveries.
The Farmer & The Chef is chaired this year by Lindsay Caulfield, Senior Vice President of Marketing and Public Affairs at Grady Health System. "We are thrilled to bring top area chefs together with charitable Atlantans for the March of Dimes, an organization dear to Grady Health System," says Caulfield. "This evening not only brings the best in Atlanta food, but also the best in Atlanta giving."
Funds raised at the event help to support the March of Dimes' mission of ensuring that all babies are born healthy. The night will feature exciting live and silent auctions including culinary experiences, vacation getaways, sports and spa packages.
Funds raised through The Farmer & The Chef will support:
Community Grants and programs aimed to improve the health of mothers and babies.
Comprehensive prenatal education and volunteer mentoring programs to improve access to prenatal care.
Centering Pregnancy, group prenatal care focused on empowering women to take control of their bodies, their pregnancies and their families.
Angel II, a special mobile neonatal intensive care unit that stabilizes and transports sick and/or premature infants across the state. Angel II transports approximately 570 babies each year.
NICU Family Support programs, located in Georgia hospitals, where a March of Dimes staff member provides information, comfort and help for families who experience the hospitalization of their newborn(s).
The 39 Weeks Banner Recognition program, which asks all hospitals to sign a pledge implementing policies to reduce early elective deliveries. Grady Health System was the first Atlanta hospital to sign on for this program.
