Santa Barbara County's Alma Rosa Winery & Vineyards is pleased to now offer private tastings at their historic ranch in the Sta. Rita Hills, providing a unique alternative to the urban tasting experience available at their popular Buellton tasting room.
Alma Rosa Winery & Vineyards was founded in 2005 by Sta. Rita Hills pioneer winegrower, and Vintners Hall of Fame inductee, Richard Sanford. Dedicated to crafting vineyard designated wines from the Sta. Rita Hills AVA, Alma Rosa focuses on Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and other cool-climate varietals that thrive in the region. Under the guidance of Richard Sanford, Alma Rosa's wine program is led by Winemaker Nick de Luca, who carries on the Alma Rosa legacy to produce distinctive wines that showcase purity of fruit while reflecting the unique terroir of the Sta. Rita Hills.
Since 2015, Alma Rosa's wines have been available to taste from their urban tasting room located on Industrial Way, a hip industrial neighborhood in Buellton, CA. "Our beautiful tasting room on Industrial Way offers a sit-down tasting experience with reclaimed Douglas Fir tables, contemporary design and a more urban vibe," shares Debra Eagle, General Manager. "It's a great place to experience our wines, but we couldn't be more thrilled to show a different side of Alma Rosa with the addition of our new private tastings at the ranch."
Two new private tasting experiences are now offered at Alma Rosa's historic ranch in the heart of the Sta. Rita Hills, surrounded by the estate's CCOF certified organic vineyards. These intimate tastings, held either at the historic ranch house or outdoors under the 80-year-old Wisteria Arbor, will give guests the rare opportunity to sample the winery's most limited-production wines while learning about Alma Rosa's viticulture, grape growing history and winemaking practices. Each guided tasting experience lasts roughly 90 minutes and costs $55 per person. Reservations are required in advance.
"The addition of private tasting experiences at our historic ranch in the Sta. Rita Hills provides a unique perspective on our winery and vineyards, revealing the heart and soul of Alma Rosa," shares Sanford. "After all, the name Alma Rosa means 'soul of the rose' and is a tribute to the original Santa Rosa land grant on which the estate vineyards are planted, serving as a reminder of our ties to the land and roots in the area. We look forward to sharing this special place with our guests."
From a historic ranch to a hip industrial neighborhood, Alma Rosa Winery & Vineyards is proud to offer an array of unique tasting experiences for its guests.
