For almost a century, A&W Restaurants and its frosty mugs of root beer have played a special role in everyday lives: first jobs, first dates, first floats and more. Now, A&W Restaurants invites fans to share favorite memories and photos for the chance to be featured in an upcoming 100th Anniversary book.
Fans can submit entries at https://www.awrestaurants.com/content/100th-anniversary or by using #MugMemory on social media now until February 28, 2018. Select winners will be featured in the book, named official book contributors, and be the first to receive 100th Anniversary Collector's Mugs.
"This milestone would not be possible without our guests, team members, franchise partners or fans, and this book is truly a celebration of them. If A&W made a positive impact in your life, we want to hear about it," said Sarah Blasi, vice president of Marketing. Photos, stories and cherished memories are encouraged.
A&W Restaurants' commemorative 100th Anniversary book will be published in 2019 with proceeds benefitting DAV (Disabled American Veterans).
In 1919, Roy Allen set up a roadside drink stand in Lodi, California, to introduce a new beverage at a parade in honor of World War I veterans. An instant success, Allen and partner Frank Wright named the beverage A&W Root Beer and started franchising roadside stands. A&W Root Beer is made fresh in the restaurants from real cane sugar, water and a proprietary blend of herbs, bark, spices, and berries that are served in a frosty mug alongside burgers, fries, hand-breaded chicken tenders and other All American Food favorites. There are nearly 1,000 locations worldwide. Connect with A&W online at https://awrestaurants.com/
