BWW Reviews: SAT READING COMPREHENSION WORKBOOK by IES 2400, Test Prep Done Right

SAT examinations are a fact of life for high school students planning to go to college. Most teens spend time preparing their test taking techniques. Those who wish to do well often get a jump-start by reviewing materials early in their high school careers. While a perfect score is 2400, every student will benefit from preparation that increases their score.

Integrated Educational Services (IES) produces an excellent series of books, the Advanced Practice Series for SAT Examinations. Individual books include Sat Reading Comprehension Workbook, SAT Critical Reading Workbook, SAT Grammar Workbook, and their SAT Math Workbook. They have been designed with very user-friendly techniques to make standardized tests easy to master.

I found the exercises in the SAT Reading Comprehension Workbook to be interesting to perform. While they were challenging, they were not overwhelming. In addition to improving SAT test taking techniques, the exercises can improve a student's ability to master their overall reading skills.

The SAT Reading Comprehension Workbook was developed by their company's test prep educators who have years of experience preparing students for college entrance examinations. The ten chapters streamline the study process. Sections include "Getting Your Feet Wet," "Aiming for Accuracy," "Introducing Time," "Speeding Up" and "A Minute to Win." Each chapter also has a self evaluation section and complete, detailed answer explanations. And as an added feature, the book includes an online vocabulary course.

After having four of my children go through the college application process, I know that busy high school students have to budget their time between schoolwork, extra-curricular activities and their social lives. I found the IES SAT Reading Comprehension Workbook to be especially efficient and easy to navigate. The book is very well focused allowing students to work on their weaknesses. It zeroes in on the area that an individual student needs to improve.
