This September, from 3,500 miles across the Atlantic, sixteen of the finest actors, directors, designers and technicians from the University of Cambridge present the hilarious and heartwarming Shakespearean comedy that is Two Gentlemen of Verona.

Two Gentlemen of Verona tells the story of Proteus, Valentine and their affections for Julia and Silvia. Over the course of the play, the meandering journeys of these lovers bring them into contact with several servants, two clowns, three forestdwelling outlaws and a small dog: above all, Two Gentlemen of Verona is a charming and carefree story about the universal experience of being young, confused and in love. Founded in 2000, CAST is proud to be celebrating its 10th Anniversary Tour with an exciting and expansive 4000 mile route, where the company will be performing in twelve different venues across the United States.

This year’s tour takes the group through ten states; from Massachusetts to Virginia; from Florida to Pennsylvania. Stopping off in the Carolinas and Georgia for the first time, the 2009 tour is the biggest in the company’s history. As CAST’s 10th Anniversary Production in the University of Cambridge’s 800th Anniversary year, Two Gentlemen of Verona is certain to be the best offering yet.

Hartwick College will welcome Cambridge University American Stage Tour’s production of Two Gentlemen of Verona at 7:30 p.m. September 8 in the Lambros Arena in Binder Physical Education Building on Hartwick College Campus in Oneonta, NY.

The production will give area students and the public a look at one of Shakespeare’s accessible and timeless plays. Tickets are $5 for students with ID and $8 for all others. Tickets will be sold at the door or can be reserved by calling the Cardboard Alley Players reservation line at 607-431-4227. Audience members are encouraged to bring cushions to sit either close to the stage on the gym floor or in the bleachers.
