This summer there will be more reasons than ever to take a trip to Coney Island thanks to a new collaboration between Thor Equities & Greenwood Park: Greenwood Beach at The Coney Art Walls located at 3050 Stillwell Ave, Brooklyn, NY.
The 50,000-square-foot, open-air space acts as a street-art museum, a comfort-food consortium and an event space. It will officially launch this week with the unveiling of this season's Art Walls. Located in between the 100-year-old Original Nathan's and Coney Island's iconic Boardwalk, on display will be over 30 exclusive works by some of the world's best street artists. The works have been carefully curated by Joseph Sitt of Thor Equities and legendary American art dealer and curator Jeffrey Deitch, one of the collaborating visionaries behind The Wynwood Walls in Miami.
This Sunday, June 12th, will be the official launch of "Bump & Hustle," a weekly pop-up roller disco occurring every Sunday this summer. The party is a collaboration of industry veterans that include Nervous Records co-founder & President, Mike Weiss, renowned promoter Benny Soto and Coney Island Icon LOLA STAR. This will mark the return of Lola Star's Dreamland Roller Rink to its roots in Coney Island. The opening party will feature the sounds of legendary New York DJ and Producer LITTLE LOUIE VEGA, who will also be celebrating his 50th Birthday on Sunday.
The food, beverage and event program has been curated by Brooklyn natives Larry Hyland, owner/operator of the popular Brooklyn beer garden, Greenwood Park, Ernie Cappone, owner/operator of Cappone's Salumeria, and Antonio Fuccio, the founding partner of Georgica Restaurant & Lounge in East Hampton. The food program will be presented as an open air food court, using converted shipping containers that act as individual pop up restaurants. New York comfort food staples such as Calexico, Dinosaur Bar-B-Que, Table 87 Pizza, Circles Café and Gianna's Ices are among the featured vendors.
Greenwood Beach at The Coney Art Walls is a celebration of art, food, music and Coney Island's long history of being NYC's hometown escape from city life. It will be open 7 days a week from noon until 10pm throughout the Summer and Fall seasons.
Aside from the Sunday Roller Disco Party, the venue will feature a number of shows, concerts and themed events throughout the summer. Plans are to feature a wide variety of music events that encompass everything from Rock, Pop, Country, Latin, Electronic and more (full schedule to be released at a later date). Among the DJ's scheduled to perform are Little Louie Vega, Nicky Siano, David Morales, Jellybean Benitez, Sting International, Hex Hector and many more. There will also be specialty and themed parties featured such as The Rub and Quiet Clubbing.
Greenwood Beach at The Coney Island Art Walls is bordered by Bowery Street, West 15th Street and Stillwell Avenue near the Coney Island boardwalk and beach. The open air venue will mix street art, comfort food and music events together, in an outdoor museum, surrounded by the many iconic attractions of Coney Island and thus making it a must-visit destination on your summer to-do list.
