A Class Act is a musical biography celebrating the life and work of Ed Kleban, Tony Award winning lyricist of the landmark Broadway musical classic A Chorus Line.  Featuring the unforgettable songs and characters that populated his life, A Class Act is a funny and poignant portrait of the turbulent life of an artist and an intimate behind the scenes peek at the creation of a Broadway show.

A Class Act was originally conceived as a tribute to Kleban organized by his friends to fulfill a request made by Kleban in his will. What resulted was a critically-acclaimed full-fledged musical that was originally produced Off-Broadway by Manhattan Theatre Club. Following an Obie Award and numerous Drama Desk nominations, the musical transferred to Broadway's Ambassador Theatre. It was nominated for 5 Tony Awards including Best Musical and a posthumous nomination for Edward Kleban for Best Score.

A Class Act is the final addition to Cape Rep’s 2009 critically acclaimed Indoor Theatre season that included the comedy hit Wintertime, extended smash hit Stones in His Pockets, the record breaking run of My Fair Lady and the season finale Our Country's Good, opening November 5. Outdoor Theatre Children's Programming and the 15th Annual Old Sea Pines Broadway Musical Dinner Revue complete the full 2009 Season Repertory Schedule. Cape Rep’s annual benefit, All Our Best, will be performed on Sept 4 and 5. Information can be obtained by calling 508.896.1888 or www.caperep.org.
