John Scalici To Teach Two Drumming Workshops At Merrimack Hall 8/1

John Scalici is an internationally recognized drum circle facilitator, speaker, musician, clinician, and master teaching artist. He has brought his dynamic, uplifting programs to Asia as well as the United States. His powerful message of "Unity Through Rhythm" has been featured at college campuses, churches, corporate events, elementary and high school classrooms and throughout the health care industry. Locally, he has led drum circles at Huntsville's annual Panoply Arts Festival.

John will be teaching two drumming workshops at Merrimack Hall on August 1, including a special one-on-one class for young adults with special needs.

"Rhythm Empowerment" at 11 a.m: A 45-minute workshop for young adults with special needs, both physical and emotional.  This uplifting, positive rhythm based program utilizing rhythms and movement  from around the world.  Additionally, John will work one-on-one with the students.  This class is for ages 14 and older, and is limited to 15 students.  Tickets are $15 per person.

"Adult Rhythmic Development" at 1 p.m.: During this four-hour workshop, students will learn basic rhythmic development, hand drumming skills, the history and west African influences of the medium, and more. Learned skills will be fully utilized in the second half of the workshop, including a jam session at the close. Tickets are $30 per person.
