Auditions Bean-Brown Theatre's Production Of THE SOUND OF MUSIC 4/27 And 4/28

Bean-Brown Theatre announces that it will be casting for The Sound Of Music on Monday, April 27 and Tuesday, April 28, 2009.

Audition times are as follows:
5-7 p.m. - Ages 15 and under
7:30- Ages 16 to adult

Prepare 16 bars of a musical theatre song (Accompanist provided. Bring sheet music in the right key. No CD’s or Tapes please)

Be prepared to read scenes from the script.

Dance audition (come prepared to move with proper shoes and attire)

Female roles available are as follows:
Maria Rainer, soprano, 21 – 32yrs. A courageous, sweet, joyful postulant at the Abbey who always has good intentions but is obviously not suited for the obedience needed to remain in the Abbey. She eventually falls in love with the Captain. She also loves music.
Sister Berthe, mezzo, 40 – 70yrs.The strict Mistress of the Novices.
Sister Sophia, mezzo, 30–55yrs. Sweet and caring. Maria’s best friend.
Sister Margaretta,mezzo,40–65yrs. The kind Mistress of Postulants.
Mother Abbess, soprano, 40–70yrs. The firm but understanding Mother of Nonnberg Abbey. A mother figure for Maria.
Frau Schmidt (housekeeper)spoken,30 – 45yrs. The spirited housekeeper. Approves of Maria.
Ursula (maid) spoken,18 - 30yrs. Sweet and innocent.
Liesl, mezzo, 15–18yrs. The Captain's starry-eyed eldest daughter who is sixteen. She is also Rolf's girlfriend.
Louisa, mezzo, 12 – 14yrs. The Captain's thirteen-year-old daughter who adores Liesl.
Brigitta, B 3 – A 4, 8 – 10yrs. The Captain's nine-year-old daughter. Very sweet and motherly.
Marta, mezzo, 6 – 9yrs. The Captain's seven-year-old daughter.
Gretl, mezzo, 4 – 7yrs. The Captain's youngest child who is five years of age.
Elsa Schraeder, alto, 30 – 50yrs. The Captain's attractive and wealthy fiancé. Friends with Max.
Baronness Elberfeld, spoken, 40-60yrs. Blue Blood/very wealthy

Male roles available are as follows:
Franz (butler) spoken,30 – 60yrs.
Friedrich, (boy soprano) sings high G, 13 – 15. The oldest von Trapp boy. He is 14 but always trying to act mature.
Kurt,soprano, 8 – 12yrs. The Captain's happy ten-year-old son.
Rolf Gruber, baritone, D3-E4, 16 – 20yrs. Liesl's confident, seventeen-year-old boyfriend who eventually fights for the Nazis.
Max Detweiler, baritone, 30 – 55yrs. A manipulative, penniless impresario who is friends with the Captain. Loves the Third Reich. A follower.
Captain Georg von Trapp, baritone, 40 – 60yrs. Retired naval officer and strict father who eventually falls in love with Maria.
Admiral von Shreiber, 40 – 60yrs. A Nazi admiral who tries to convince Captain von Trapp to join the Nazi army.
Herr Zeller, 20-30yrs . A bit of a bully.
Baron Elberfeld, 40-65yrs. Staunch Austrian/ blue blood

Roles available for all types:
Nuns, Nazis, neighbors, and friends of Captain von Trapp, all ranges/ages, Able to waltz. Will perform various duties in the show.
