The Laurel Mill Playhouse's Level 1 And Level 3 Improv Classes For Teens 13-18 Commence 8/30

The Laurel Mill Playhouse, 508 Main Street, Laurel, Md. will hold Level 1 and Level 3 Improv classes for teens 13-18 for five weeks starting August 30. Instructor Ken Krintz returns to LMP for these sought after classes. Fee will be $50 for 5 classes.

Improvisation for Teens Level 1

This 5-week course teaches the fundamentals of improvisation. Using a variety of exercises and short-form games, students will develop teamwork and listening skills while performing two-person and group scenes in a fun, non-competitive environment.

Participants will learn:

The vocabulary of improv, such as “Yes, and…” and “blocking”
Improvisation rules
Physicalization, characterization and storytelling (Where? Who? What?)
How to give and take focus
To build relationships on stage
Active listening
To be innovative, spontaneous and learn to work together effectively while having fun
To be more comfortable onstage or in public speaking situations

Class dates and time are:

Sundays, 5:00pm – 6:25pm
August 30, September 6, 13, 20 and 27

Improv for Teens Level 3

This 5-week course builds on the fundamentals of improvisation taught in the Level 1 and 2 courses. Using a variety of exercises and short- and long-form games, students will develop teamwork and listening skills while performing two-person and group scenes in a fun, non-competitive environment.

Participants will:

Continue to improve storytelling skills using explore and heighten techniques
Improve on giving and taking focus during games
Quickly build relationships on stage
Learn and play longer performance games

Class dates and new time are:

Sundays, 6:30pm – 8:00pm

August 30, September 6, 13, 20 and 27
