The Broadway community mourns the loss of celebrated playwright, actor and novelist Sam Shepard, who, as BroadwayWorld sadly reported earlier this week, passed away on Thursday, July 27th at age 73. The marquees of Broadway theatres in New York were dimmed in his memory yesterday, at exactly 7:45pm for one minute.

Rehearsals are underway for the Broadway premiere of Prince of Broadway, a musical celebration that highlights the extraordinary six-decade career of director and producer Harold Prince. Prince of Broadway will start previews Thursday, August 3, 2017 for a Thursday, August 24, 2017 opening night at MTC's Samuel J. Friedman Theatre (261 West 47th Street).

The cast of Broadway's Charlie and the Chocolate Factory celebrated 100 sweet performances on Broadway last night at the Paramount Hotel Bar & Grill. BroadwayWorld was there for the celebration and brings you photos below!

Curvy Widow, a new musical comedy with a book by Bobby Goldman, music and lyrics by Drew Brody (Broadway: Oh Hello; Cutman), and directed by Peter Flynn (Rhapsody in Seth; Two Rooms), will play at the Westside Theatre (407 West 43rd Street between 9th and 10th Avenues). Performances for the open-ended engagement begin July 20 and opening night is set for August 3. 

Broadway favorite Liz Callaway returns to Feinstein's/54 Below this summer with an evening of music from the 1960s called The Beat Goes On. Featuring pop hits of the era and music from Broadway and the movies, the show also includes songs from her iconic album The Beat Goes On.

An Egyptian Police Band arrives in Israel to play a concert. After a mix-up at the border, they are sent to a remote village in the middle of the desert.
